Engineering Compact Base Editors by AlphaFold‐Guided Mutation Scan and Escherichia coli‐Based Tri‐Selection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A miniaturized deaminase SsdAtox was scanned with AlphaFold to identify DNA binding pocket hot spots. Site‐saturation mutagenesis at gatekeeper residue K31 yielded ten‐fold activity enhancement. Trinity Screen, an E. coli‐based three‐in‐one platform selecting for high activity and reduced double‐strand breaks, enabled combinatorial evolution at DNA ...

A Tac1‐Expressing Brainstem Pathway Underlies the Pathogenesis of Trigeminal Neuralgia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A critical TG‐Sp5CTac1‐PBNTac1 pathway drives trigeminal neuropathic pain (TNP). Tac1‐expressing parabrachial nucleus (PBNTac1) neurons exhibit heightened responses to innocuous stimuli in TNP, and chemogenetic inhibition of these neurons effectively prevents TNP development.

Root Hairs

Choice Reviews Online, 2009
Root hairs, the tip-growing extensions of root epidermal cells, are a model system for answering many plant cell and developmental biology research questions. This book, written by experts in the field, covers the research up to 2008 on cellular, genetic, electrophysiological and developmental aspects of root hair growth, as well as the interaction of ...

Microtubules in root hairs

Journal of Cell Science, 1985
ABSTRACT The microtubules of root hairs of Raphanus sativus, Lepidium sativum, Equisetum hyemale, Limnoblum sloloniferum, Ceratopteris thalictroides, Allium sativum and Urtica dioica were inves-tigated using immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. Arrays of cortical microtubules were observed in all hairs.

Root hair systems biology

Trends in Plant Science, 2010
Plant functional genomic studies have largely measured the response of whole plants, organs and tissues, resulting in the dilution of the signal from individual cells. Methods are needed where the full repertoire of functional genomic tools can be applied to a single plant cell.

Chitosan stimulates root hair callose deposition and inhibits root hair growth

2023
AbstractAlthough angiosperm plants have a general capacity to react after the immunity elicitor chitin or chitosan treatment by the cell wall callose deposition, this response in particular cell types and its evolutionary conservation is not understood.

Root Hair Development

Journal of Plant Growth Regulation, 2002
Root hairs are projections from the epidermal cells of the root that are thought to increase its effective surface area for nutrient and water uptake, enlarge the volume of exploited soil, and aid in anchoring the plant to the soil. Their formation occurs as a series of developmental processes starting with cell fate specification in the meristem.

Y-body in hair roots

Human Genetics, 1971
A method for identifying of the Y-Body in cells from hair root sheaths by fluorescent staining is described. In 52 normal males the Y-Body is found between 15 and 64%. 2 bodies were observed in 60 out of 5200 cells. In the female controls only rarely a fluorescent body was seen.
