Light flicker evaluation using root mean square voltage waveforms

2015 56th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON), 2015
In this paper, a new method for evaluation of low-frequency voltage fluctuations, which cause light flicker, based on root-mean-square (RMS) computations of voltage waveforms, is presented. According to the IEC and IEEE standards, light flicker computation is achieved on the raw data of the voltage waveforms.

Mechanical computation of root mean square values

Journal of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1923
Varying values of electric current with time are practically the ever-present condition in applications of electricity. There are two main divisions: First, varying loads, producing such data as are given, for example, by the current record of a curve-drawing ammeter; the time is recorded in hours, minutes or seconds.

Square-Mean-Root Approximation for Evaluating Asymmetric Tunneling Characteristics

Journal of Applied Physics, 1965
A new method of approximating the basic tunnel integral is used to calculate the asymmetric characteristics of the tunnel effect between two dissimilar electrodes separated by a thin insulating film. The method is to approximate the true potential barrier by an equivalent rectangular barrier whose height is determined by the square-mean-root value of ...
