The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Iterative bicluster-based Bayesian principal component analysis and least squares for missing-value imputation in microarray and RNA-sequencing data

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2022
Microarray and RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) techniques each produce gene expression data that can be expressed as a matrix that often contains missing values.

Normalised Root Mean Square and Amplitude of Sidebands of Vibration Response as Tools for Gearbox Diagnosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Quick assessment of the condition of gearboxes used in helicopters is a safety requirement. One of the most widely used helicopter on-board-mounted condition monitoring system these days is the Health and Usage Monitoring System. It has been specifically

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Predictive model for congenital heart disease in children of Pakistan by using structural equation modeling

open access: yesBMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making
Background The structural abnormality of the heart and its blood vessels at the time of birth is known as congenital heart disease. Every year in Pakistan, sixty thousand children are born with CHD, and 44 in 1000 die before they are a month old. Various

GPU-Q-J, a fast method for calculating root mean square deviation (RMSD) after optimal superposition

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2011
Background Calculation of the root mean square deviation (RMSD) between the atomic coordinates of two optimally superposed structures is a basic component of structural comparison techniques. We describe a quaternion based method, GPU-Q-J, that is stable

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Charge Radii of Hyperons [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The momentum projected SU(3) Chiral Color Dielectric Model (CCDM) is employed to calculate the charge root mean square radii and charge distributions of hyperons. We compare our result with Skyrme, MIT bag and Cloudy Bag model results.

Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.
