Effect of Foot Orthoses on Midfoot Pain and the Volume of Bone Marrow Lesions in the Midfoot: A Randomized Mechanism of Action Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Foot orthoses are thought to improve pain by potentially modifying internal mechanical forces. To test this, we explored whether foot orthoses can modify patterns of bone marrow lesions (BMLs) in people with midfoot pain. Methods Forty‐two people were recruited with midfoot pain, and magnetic resonance imaging–confirmed midfoot BMLs ...

Differential Item Functioning on the Patient Health Questionnaire‐8 by Disease Subtype, Language, Sex, and Age among People with Systemic Sclerosis: A Scleroderma Patient‐centered Intervention Network Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Somatic items used in depression assessments can potentially overlap with symptoms related to physical illness, including systemic sclerosis (SSc). No studies have looked at whether somatic depression items may be influenced by diffuse versus limited SSc disease subtypes, which are associated with varying degrees of symptom presentation.

Retractions in rheumatology: trends, causes, and implications for research integrity

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective We aimed to describe the trends and main reasons for study retraction in rheumatology literature. Methods We reviewed the Retraction Watch database to identify retracted articles in rheumatology. We recorded the main study characteristics, authors’ countries, reasons for retraction, time from publication to retraction, and trends over time ...

Interpolatory model reduction of dynamical systems with root mean squared error

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine
The root mean squared error is an important measure used in a variety of applications such as structural dynamics and acoustics to model averaged deviations from standard behavior. For large-scale systems, simulations of this quantity quickly become computationally prohibitive.

Analysis of S-box in Image Encryption Using Root Mean Square Error Method

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 2012
The use of substitution boxes (S-boxes) in encryption applications has proven to be an effective nonlinear component in creating confusion and randomness. The S-box is evolving and many variants appear in literature, which include advanced encryption standard (AES) S-box, affine power affine (APA) S-box, Skipjack S-box, Gray S-box, Lui J S-box, residue

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
