Root-Mean-Square Error in Encoded Digital Telemetry

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1972
This paper studies the effectiveness of certain group codes in reducing the root-mean-square (rms) error in a digital telemetry link. The zero-sampling-error lower bound on the total error is derived for the case when majority-logic-decodable group codes are used in the channel.

Interpolatory model reduction of dynamical systems with root mean squared error

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine
The root mean squared error is an important measure used in a variety of applications such as structural dynamics and acoustics to model averaged deviations from standard behavior. For large-scale systems, simulations of this quantity quickly become computationally prohibitive.

The role of root-mean-square error in the geo-transformation of images in GIS

Geographical Information Systems, 1996
ABSTRACT There is growing interest in the use of images in GIS applications. This paper examines the role of root-mean-square error in assessing the accuracy of digitisation and image–to–world transformation, The study employed Arc/Info software, using an aerial photograph of a small coastal settlement as the base image.

Normal-eye Zernike coefficients and root-mean-square wavefront errors

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2006
To compare aberrometry measurements from multiple sites and compute mean Zernike coefficients and root-mean-square (RMS) values for the entire data pool to serve as a reference set for normal, healthy adult eyes.Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, USA.Data were collected from 10 laboratories that measured higher-order aberrations (HOAs)

Selection of factor for root mean square minimum error criterion

2016 13th International Scientific-Technical Conference on Actual Problems of Electronics Instrument Engineering (APEIE), 2016
This paper deals with various approaches to the selection of weighting factor for of a cumulative weighted root-mean-square minimum error criterion of linear ACSs. Such criterion allows to determine optimal values of small parameters of the system, thus minimizing the system error caused by input replication error of a determined (or random) signal, as

Effect of the Relative Root-Mean-Square Error on Pavement Response

Analysis of Asphalt Pavement Materials and Systems, 2007
Analysis of flexible pavements using the multilayered elastic theory involves the use of elastic moduli backcalculated from deflection basins measured utilizing the Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD). Uncertainties associated with the thickness of the elastic layers, seed moduli, and the backcalculation algorithms have been studied to increase the ...

Automatic Gamma Correction Based on Root-Mean-Square-Error Maximization

2020 International Conference on Computing and Information Technology (ICCIT-1441), 2020
Gamma correction is a well-known method used often for image enhancement, mainly to improve the luminance levels of dark and bright images. However, the enhancement level is highly affected by the gamma parameter used. In this paper, we propose a new iterative algorithm for automating the selection of the gamma value γ by maximizing the mean error ...

Visual Acuity as a Function of Zernike Mode and Level of Root Mean Square Error

Optometry and Vision Science, 2003
ABSTRACT: Background. The coefficients of normalized Zernike expansion are orthogonal and reflect the relative contribution of each mode to the total root mean square (RMS) wavefront error.
