In Vivo Scaling and Root Planing Forces
Journal of Periodontology, 1991The purpose of the present study was to assess the scaling and root planing forces exerted in vivo. Ten dentists and 10 dental hygienists scaled and root planed one aspect of an incisor in an adult patient with untreated advanced periodontitis.

Scaling and root planing in shallow pockets
Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 1982Abstract The present study was undertaken to enable histological assessment of attachment level alterations following repeated scaling and root planing in periodontal sites with “normal” sulcus/pocket depth. Two monkeys (Macaca cynomolgus) were used.

Generating rooted and free plane trees
ACM Transactions on Algorithms, 2006This article has two main results. First, we develop a simple algorithm to list all nonisomorphic rooted plane trees in lexicographic order using a level sequence representation. Then, by selecting a unique centroid to act as the root of a free plane tree, we apply the rooted plane tree algorithm to develop an algorithm to list all nonisomorphic free ...

The Impact of Research on Scaling and Root Planing
Journal of Periodontology, 1986The research expanding our knowledge of the periodontally involved root surface and its treatment is reviewed. To improve communication in the clinic and classroom, definitions are suggested for the terms “scaling” and “root planing.” The objectives and limitations of root planing procedures are discussed.

Root distribution of a polynomial in subregions of complex plane
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1993Summary: Newly modified processes are proposed for directly treating singularities in the Routh array, and new procedures are developed for determining the respective orders of simple and/or repeated roots lying on the imaginary axis. The extended Sturm test is developed for determining the root distribution on some specified lines.

Scaling and Root Planing Efficacy in Multirooted Teeth
Journal of Periodontology, 1989The effect of operator experience level and root surface access on instrumentation of multirooted teeth was investigated. Fifty molars designated for extraction were randomly distributed among four operators of two different experience levels for scaling and root planing with or without surgical access.

Effect of periodontal root planing on dentin permeability
Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 1993Abstract The purpose of this study was to quantitate the effects of root planing on the permeability of human root dentin in vitro. Unerupted 3rd molars were used. The crowns were removed and longitudinal slices made of the root. The hydraulic conductance of the root dentin was measured before and after root planing, acid etching and potassium oxalate ...
