Infection-related root resorption

open access: yesSWISS DENTAL JOURNAL SSO – Science and Clinical Topics, 2014
Infection-induced root resorption occurs accidentally after severe dislocation injury (intrusion or avulsion). The pulp tears off apically and large cement defects also occur on the root surface: the cementoblast layer of the tooth (precementum) is destroyed.

Comments on : diet, physiology and ecology of fossil mammals as inferred from stable carbon and nitrogen isotope biogeochemistry: implications for Pleistocene bears [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
A detailed study of isotopic relationships in European Pleistocene ursid teeth have been presented by Bocherens et al. (1994). We agree with the resu1ts and broad conclusions derived from the stable carbon isotope relationships.

A Compact Optical Sensor to Self‐Assess Skin Health after Sun Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a portable, low‐cost device capable of detecting changes in the skin associated with excessive sun exposure through reflectance measurements. In vitro validation experiments in skin‐mimicking tissue phantoms showed the device can detect relative pigmentation changes as small as 5%.

Polylactic Acid (PLA), Polycaprolactone (PCL), and Chitosan: the Biodegradable Transition in Medical Waste Management

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
The shift to biodegradable materials in healthcare promises reduced plastic pollution, but their production, adoption, and long‐term impacts remain complex. Integrating lifecycle insights with global policy coordination is essential for meaningful environmental gains. Abstract The COVID‐19 pandemic sharply increased medical waste, intensifying concerns

Elderly Liver Grafts are More Susceptible to Ischemia‐Reperfusion After Prolonged Cold Ischemia than Grafts from Young Donors—An Ex Vivo Liver Machine Perfusion Analysis in Sprague Dawley Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
This study investigates how donor age and cold ischemia time influence liver perfusion parameters and injury markers. Older livers are more susceptible to longer ischemia times displaying more tissue damage, and higher expression of oxidative stress and apoptosis‐related proteins than livers with shorter ischemia times.

NARFL Knockout Triggers Ferroptosis‐Driven Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NARFL is vital for CIA and oxidative stress resistance. NARFL deletion in HPMEC cells, zebrafish, and mice is lethal and rescued by a Ferroptosis inhibitor. NARFL deficiency disrupted its interaction with CIA proteins, decreased aconitase activity, increased IRP1 activity, induced Fe overload, and led to ferroptosis and oxidative stress, resulting in ...

Reduced graphene oxide loaded with tetrahedral framework nucleic acids for combating orthodontically induced root resorption

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology
Root resorption occurs outside the root or within the root canal. Regardless of its region, root resorption is irreversible and in severe cases, may even cause tooth loss.
