Risk prediction model of impacted supernumerary tooth-associated root resorption in children based on cone-beam computed tomography analysis: a case control study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background External surface resorption is pressure-induced resorption and occurs on the external surface of the root, pressure exerted by impacted teeth, is common causes of external surface resorption.

Root Resorption Patterns of Primary Mandibular Molars and Location of Premolar Successors Through Radiographs in Pakistani Population

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Medicine and Dentistry
Background: Primary teeth undergo physiological root resorption followed by eruption of their permanent successors. Roots of primary mandibular molars can have either symmetrical or asymmetrical resorption patterns.

The effect of corticision on root resorption with heavy and light forces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objective:  To investigate the association between corticision and different force magnitudes with the amount of root resorption. Methods:  Forty-four male Wistar rats (7 week old) were evaluated after an orthodontic spring delivering either 10 or 100

Conditioned Media from Mechanically Stimulated Macrophages Upregulate Osteogenic Genes in Human Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Bone fracture healing is a complex, timely orchestrated scenario involving multiple cell types and a plethora of cytokines and regulatory factors. To gain further insight, an in vitro model to a) study macrophage polarization under mechanical load in a fibrin hydrogel and b) subsequently assess the effect of conditioned media derived from macrophages ...

Incisal apical root resorption evaluation after low-friction orthodontic treatment using two-dimensional radiographic imaging and trigonometric correction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: Root resorption shall be taken into consideration during every orthodontic treatment, and it can be effected by the use of different techniques, such as the application of low friction mechanics.

Root Resorption Classifications: A Narrative Review and a Clinical Aid Proposal for Routine Assessment

open access: yesEuropean Endodontic Journal, 2018
Root resorption (RR) refers to noninfectious damage related to the loss of hard and soft dental tissue that results from clastic cell activity. It is observed as a pathologic process that is predominantly asymptomatic in the permanent dentition and ...

Si Inhibited Osteoclastogenesis: The Role of Fe and the Fenton Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Silicate (Si) inhibition of osteoclastogenesis, is mediated by Fe. Si chemical interactions with Fe inhibit the Fenton reaction and intercellular ROS availability. This reduction in ROS availability inhibits osteoclastogenesis. The addition of Fe, in Si‐inhibited osteoclast cultures, restores the Fenton reaction, and osteoclastogenesis.

Surgical management of extrafollicular variant of adenomatoid odontogenic tumor in the maxillary posterior region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background. Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a relatively uncommon benign neoplasm of odontogenic epithelial origin, accounting for less than 5% of odontogenic tumors. Case Report. The reported case describes morphological characteristics, clinical
