Plant‐mediated interactions among above‐ground and below‐ground life stages of a root‐feeding weevil
Ecological Entomology, 20191. Interactions among herbivores mediated by plant responses to herbivore injury may have large impacts on herbivore population densities. Responses may persist for weeks after injury and may affect not only the initial (inducing) herbivore, but also ...

Root Weevil Control on Rhododendron, 1976
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1977Abstract As a follow-up to 1975 studies which showed Orthene to be an effective deterrent to leaf damage caused by adult root weevil, a completely randomized trial with 4 replicates of each of 10 treatments was set up. Each block consisted of a group of plants whose number varied according to the area necessary to ensure that adequate ...

All treatments were applied with a John Bean sprayer at 300 psi to run-off. Wild adult weevils collected from the adjacent plantings were placed in screen limb bags (5 weevils/bag) which were attached to treated ...

Control of Root Weevils in Strawberry Plantings
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1959Lindane, aldrin, heptachlor, and chlordane were tested for the control of three species of Brachyrhinus strawberry root weevil. Each insecticide was mixed with soil low in organic matter before setting the plants. Each of the first three was applied at the rates of 2½, 5, and 10 pounds actual per acre; the chlordane at 5, 10 and 20 pounds.

Control of Strawberry Root Weevil on Strawberry, 1980
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1981Abstract Plots were single rows 50 ft long and 3.5 ft apart. Treatments were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. The soil was a sandy loam. The plants were topped after harvest. Treatments for irrigated plots were applied with a power sprayer in 43 gal of water/acre concentrated in 12-inch bands over the rows and ...
