QTL‐seq for rapid identification of candidate genes for 100‐seed weight and root/total plant dry weight ratio under rainfed conditions in chickpea [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, 2016
Terminal drought is a major constraint to chickpea productivity. Two component traits responsible for reduction in yield under drought stress include reduction in seeds size and root length/root density.

Length densities, occupancies and weights of apple root systems

Plant and Soil, 1993
The root systems of apple trees from five orchards ranging in age from 1.5-y to 14-y were sampled to depths of between one and two metres using soil cores. Although trees came from orchards which differed in soil-type, tree spacings and management, consistent patterns were found in root systems. In orchards of 4-y and older, roots of adjacent trees met

Influence of water management, planting methods and mulching on growth, root dry weight, root density, yield and yield attributes and water-use in yellow sarson (Brassica rapa)

Indian Journal of Agronomy, 2001
A field experiment was conducted on sandy loam soils during two consecutive winter seasons (rabi) of 201415 and 201516 at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar to evaluate the effect of irrigation scheduling, planting methods and mulching on growth, root characteristics, yield and yield attributes and con- sumptive use of water (

Variation in root traits of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) grown under terminal drought [PDF]

open access: yesField Crops Research, 2004
Deep and prolific root systems have been associated with enhanced avoidance of terminal drought stress in chickpea. This research evaluated the root traits of 257 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from a cross between a breeding line with a large ...

Effects of Tree Root Density on Soil Total Porosity and Non-Capillary Porosity Using a Ground-Penetrating Tree Radar Unit in Shanghai, China

open access: yesSustainability, 2018
To explore the relationship between arbor root density and corresponding physical soil properties (total porosity, non-capillary porosity, specific weight, bulk density, moisture content, and permeability), noninvasive methods such as Tree Radar Unit ...

Calibration method of electromagnetic-flowmeter for LMFBR using root mean square frequency weighted by power spectral density of output voltage fluctuation

Progress in Nuclear Energy, 1985
Abstract In the LMFBR, electromagnetic-flowmeters (EMFs) have been extensively used. A calibration method using cross-correlation of the output voltage fluctuations of EMF has been proposed. The correlation method requires two pairs of electrodes, so is desired to develop and alternative method without this requirement.
