Strain localization below the root of an yielding notch
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1984Abstract Prandtl-Orowan mechanism for plastic crack extension is discussed. A method of calculating strain localization below an yield notch in Prager's elastic-plastic material is described. Firstly, a boundary value problem is solved for an elastic notch under the combined loadings of normal and shear stresses acting on its flank faces.

Effect of abamectin on root‐knot nematodes and tomato yield
Pest Management Science, 2012AbstractBACKGROUND: Tomato growers in Shandong Province, China, commonly face heavy root‐knot nematode infestations. Current methods of control include cadusafos and methyl bromide (MeBr), but alternative methods are required because of the high toxicity of these pesticides and the ecological risk of their use.

Effect of Pachymetra Root Rot on Sugarcane Yield
Plant Disease, 1994The effect of Pachymetra root rot on yield of sugarcane was assessed through a correlation of soil inoculum density with yield in the susceptible cultivar Q90. Variation in plot inoculum density was created by growing cultivars of varied resistance in the previous crop.

Root locus for a controller class that yields cubic gain parameterization
2013 American Control Conference, 2013We present rules for constructing the root locus for a linear feedback system, where the closed-loop denominator polynomial is quadratic in the root-locus parameter k. These quadratic root-locus rules apply to a class of controllers that are rational functions of k. We provide controller design examples to demonstrate the quadratic root locus.

Effects of Harvesting Frequency on Leaf and Root Yields of Cassava
Experimental Agriculture, 1981SUMMARYTotal fresh leaf yield of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) variety Isunikankiyan was not significantly affected by harvesting frequency, unlike variety TMS 30211. Compared with plants whose leaves were not harvested, there was a decrease in total fresh tuberous root yields of 56–76%, 34–62% and 15–32% when leaves were harvested at 1-, 2- and 3-
