Rootstock Breeding and Rootstock-Scion Interaction in Prunus Species

Erciyes Tarım ve Hayvan Bilimleri Dergisi, 2023
Temperate climate fruit species are important fruit groups both in the world and in Turkey. Most of these fruit species because cannot be propagated by seeds due to the long generation period are propagated by grafting. Rootstocks affect many factors in cultivars such as growth vigor, yield and quality, and maturation time.

Physiological aspects of rootstock–scion interactions

Scientia Horticulturae, 2010
Due to the high market demand for off-season vegetables and the limited availability of arable land, vegetable seedlings are cultivated under changing environmental conditions which may induce stress. These conditions include cold, wet or dry environments, low or high radiation, etc.

Grape rootstock-scion interaction on root system development

Acta Horticulturae, 2016
Grapevine root system structure and development is dependent on both environmental and genetic factors like most of the woody perennial plants. Vineyard established with grafts has two genetic factors the rootstock and scion. In our study the effect of the rootstock-scion interactions on root system development were examined with two methods, with soil

Rootstock–scion interaction affecting citrus response to CTV infection: a proteomic view

Physiologia Plantarum, 2015
Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) is the causal agent of various diseases with dramatic effects on citrus crops worldwide. Most Citrus species, grown on their own roots, are symptomless hosts for many CTV isolates. However, depending on different scion–rootstock combination, CTV infection should result in distinct syndromes, being ‘tristeza’ the more severe ...

ROOTSTOCK-SCION INTERACTIONS IN THE CUCUMBER: IMPLICATIONS FOR CULTIVATION AND BREEDING

Acta Horticulturae, 1985
Grafting cucumbers onto low temperature tolerant rootstocks Cucurbita ficifolia and Sicyos angulatus promoted vegetative growth and early fruit production at suboptimal temperatures in winter. The positive effect of grafting. onto C. ficifolia on length growth and leaf initiation depended on the genotype of the scion.
