Anti-Sway Full Order State-Feedback Control of the Overhead Crane with Variable Rope Length Using Luenberger Observer

This paper presents the design of a full order state-feedback control system for a payload carrying overhead crane trolley capable of eliminating the payload swing. In order to estimate the payload swing angle and its angular velocity a Luenberger state observer was designed.

Nonlinear Sway and Active Stiffness Control of Long Moving Ropes in High-Rise Vertical Transportation Systems

In this paper a model to describe the lateral dynamic behaviour of long moving ropes employed in high-rise vertical transportation is developed. The model takes into account the fact that the longitudinal elastic stretching of the ropes is coupled with their transverse motions (sway) which results in cubic nonlinear terms.
