Anti-sway control of variable rope length container crane based on phase plane trajectory planning
Journal of Vibration and Control, 2023An overhead crane system is a complex time-varying system if it includes simultaneous hoisting and moving operations. To address the problem that time-varying systems usually have no exact analytical solution, an anti-swing method based on linear approximation of the phase plane trajectory is proposed.

Anti-sway fixed-order control of bridge cranes with varying rope length
2017 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics (ICM), 2017In this paper, a gain-scheduling control law is proposed to attenuate the oscillations in overhead cranes induced by manual operations, for different values of the rope length. To take into account the practical limits in controller implementation, a fixed-order controller is tuned, by enforcing certain robustness and performance constraints.

Vibration Control of Rope-Sway of Elevator for High-Rise Building
Volume 6B: 18th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 2001Abstract This study presents a synthesis method of a nonstationary optimal controller with a time-varying criterion function for reducing vibration of a time-varying object such as rope of elevator and crane. For time-varying object a stationary optimal control is little effective in reducing vibration.
