Experimental study on vibration control for rope-sway of elevator of high-rise building

Proceedings of the 2002 American Control Conference (IEEE Cat. No.CH37301), 2003
This study presents a synthesis method of a nonstationary optimal controller with a time-varying criterion function for reducing the vibration of a time-varying object such as moving ropes of elevators and cranes. For the time-varying object a stationary optimal control has little effective on reducing vibration.

Sway control of rotary crane using straight transfer transformation method considering the variation of rope length

Proceedings of the 41st SICE Annual Conference. SICE 2002., 2003
This paper presents a method to control the sway of a rotary crane by using a straight transfer transformation (STT) model. The STT model is built and its parameters are geometrically derived. Considering the variation of the rope length, optimal control of a rotary crane is solved using an optimization method of Davidon-Fletcher-Powell (DFP) so that ...

Anti-Sway Full Order State-Feedback Control of the Overhead Crane with Variable Rope Length Using Luenberger Observer

2018 X International Conference on Electrical Power Drive Systems (ICEPDS), 2018
This paper presents the design of a full order state-feedback control system for a payload carrying overhead crane trolley capable of eliminating the payload swing. In order to estimate the payload swing angle and its angular velocity a Luenberger state observer was designed.

Nonlinear Sway and Active Stiffness Control of Long Moving Ropes in High-Rise Vertical Transportation Systems

2011
In this paper a model to describe the lateral dynamic behaviour of long moving ropes employed in high-rise vertical transportation is developed. The model takes into account the fact that the longitudinal elastic stretching of the ropes is coupled with their transverse motions (sway) which results in cubic nonlinear terms.
