The orientation and symmetry of light spots and asterism in rose quartz spheres from Madagascar

The orientation of light spots on the surface of four asteriated rose quartz spheres from Madagascar is described. The up to 50 different light spots form similar patterns on all samples examined with respect to their orientation, but are somewhat different according to their relative intensity.

Characterization of synthetic overgrowth on a natural rose quartz aggregate

A large (~108.2 × 71.9 × 44.0 mm) pink-hued crystal aggregate was submitted to the GIT Gem Testing Laboratory for identification. Initial assessment showed classic quartz characteristics - large hexagonal prisms terminating in rhombohedral faces - and notable color zoning, with a sharp contrast between colorless overgrowth and pink core.
