Analysis of the rotary kiln model

2009 European Control Conference (ECC), 2009
The rotary calcination kiln for a production of Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) is a very interesting dynamical system. The titanuim dioxide is mostly available in a crystaline form known as anatase. The aim of the calcination process is to produce the titanium dioxide with the rutile content around 98% that has the right pigmentary properties in contrast to

Computer Control of Rotary Kilns

1982 American Control Conference, 1982
A dynamic lime kiln simulation model has been developed and validated by extensive test data from pulp mill lime kilns. The simulation is used to evaluate control and equipment requirements during transient or upset conditions. Control strategies and equipment, or kiln subsystem modifications can be perfected and implemented with a high degree of ...

Modelling the Rotary Lime Kiln

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2008
A three-dimensional steady-state model to predict the flow and heat transfer in a rotary lime kiln is presented. All important phenomena are considered for the pre-heat and calcination zones including turbulent gas flow, buoyancy, all modes of heat transfer, evolution and combustion of species and granular bed motion with calcination reaction.

Control of a Rotary Cement Kiln

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1992
Abstract A cement rotary kiln is a nonlinear, multivarible, distrubted paramete system. Since a model describing the whole heating process iS not available, separate control Schemes are designed for the preheater process and kiln process. The fuel consumption minimization is achieved by determining appropriate heating set points.
