Computer Control of Rotary Kilns
1982 American Control Conference, 1982A dynamic lime kiln simulation model has been developed and validated by extensive test data from pulp mill lime kilns. The simulation is used to evaluate control and equipment requirements during transient or upset conditions. Control strategies and equipment, or kiln subsystem modifications can be perfected and implemented with a high degree of ...

Modelling the Rotary Lime Kiln
The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2008A three-dimensional steady-state model to predict the flow and heat transfer in a rotary lime kiln is presented. All important phenomena are considered for the pre-heat and calcination zones including turbulent gas flow, buoyancy, all modes of heat transfer, evolution and combustion of species and granular bed motion with calcination reaction.

Rotary kiln transport processes
AIChE Journal, 1991AbstractSlow rotation of a cylindrical kiln, partially filled with powder or granular solid, produces a planar interface between the bulk of the solid and the gas phase, tilted at the angle of repose. Particles cascade downward on this plane, moving relatively freely and randomly, providing the principal mechanism for particulate diffusion and mixing ...

Limestone calcination in a rotary kiln
Metallurgical Transactions B, 1982An experimental study of the calcination of limestone has been carried out in a highly instrumented pilot-scale rotary kiln. Local gas, solids, and wall temperatures and pct calcination have been measured under a range of operating conditions to determine the influence of limestone type, feed rate, rotational speed, inclination angle, and particle size

Particuology, 2010
Abstract This paper describes an experimental investigation on the flow characteristics within a rotating cylinder containing a rolling bed of sand. The axis of the cylinder was horizontal and there was no axial bulk flow of particles. The velocity field of the gas flowing through the cylinder was measured by hot-wire anemometry.

The Lining for Rotary Cement Kilns
Refractories and Industrial Ceramics, 2001The main accent in the study of cement clinker-based refractory materials was placed on an optimum choice of the clinker-to-cement proportion, on a rational chemical, mineral, and granulometric composition of the clinker, on the development of techniques for laying and fixing the lining, on an optimum choice of water-to-cement ratio, on the use of ...
