Development of a new integrated welding mechanism combined with ultrasonic and rotary welding

open access: yesThe International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences
Ultrasonic welding is the joining or reforming of thermoplastics through the use of heat generated from high-frequency mechanical motion. Rotary welding is a technique to press two parts together and one part is hold fixed the other rotates at high speed, the friction between the two parts generate heat which causes the parts to melt at the interface ...

Scaling of Planar Sodium‐Nickel Chloride Battery Cells to 90 cm2 Active Area

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
Large planar Na β′′ alumina electrolytes are prepared by tape‐casting and die‐pressing. These ceramic electrolytes are used to prepare planar sodium‐nickel chloride cells with 90 cm2 active area, providing a high capacity of 7 Ah. Successful cell cycling is demonstrated at 300 °C at rates up to C/4 (20 mA cm−2) for a cumulative capacity of 3.6 Ah cm−2.

From Material Tensions to Organizational Paradoxes: How Manufacturers Cope With the Limits of Circular Product Design

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Circular product design (CPD) is central to advancing the circular economy by enabling the narrowing, slowing, and closing of resource flows. Yet, its implementation remains persistently challenging for firms. Prior research has largely framed these challenges as discrete barriers, overlooking the structural contradictions embedded in CPD ...

Numerical simulation study on the characteristics and propagation attenuation of vibration signals in freezing pipe fracture

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This research study employs analysis system (ANSYS) fluid–structure interaction simulations to investigate the generation and attenuation of vibration signals resulting from freezing pipe fractures in artificial ground freezing projects. By evaluating key variables—including frozen soil elastic modulus, brine inlet pressure, and external pipe pressure ...

Temperature as an Important Factor in Rotary Welding of Wood

open access: yes, 2017
Welding of wood is an innovative way of connecting wood, or pieces of wood, without the use of glue or other binder. The main reason of welding are melting of the welding surface layers of wood (lignin and hemicelluloses) and physical and chemical reactions that lead to the solidification of the melt and creating a solid compound.

Evaluation of the Adequacy of Design Specifications for Nonstructural Components in a Reticular Structure

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nonstructural components (NSCs) installed in large‐span reticular structures were frequently severely damaged during earthquakes, even when the primary structure remained intact. Existing seismic design specifications for NSCs were predominantly developed for upright structures such as multi‐storey buildings and offer no guidance for reticular
