To compensate for the intermittency of renewable energy generation, coal-fired power units are required to operate under low-load conditions over a long time, which causes the last stage blades of steam turbine low-pressure cylinders under small flow ...

Nonlinear Dynamics of the High-Speed Rotating Plate
High speed rotating blades are crucial components of modern large aircraft engines. The rotating blades under working condition frequently suffer from the aerodynamic, elastic and inertia loads, which may lead to large amplitude nonlinear oscillations ...

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Determination of angle of attack for rotating blades
For a rotating blade the flow passing by a blade section is bended due to the rotation and the local flow field is influenced by the bound circulation on the blade. As a further complication, 3-D effects from tip and root vortices do a precise definition of the angle of attack (AOA) a difficult task.

A method for analysing fluid structure interactions on a horizontal axis tidal turbine
Free stream tidal turbines are rotating bodies in fast flowing tidal currents, and as such are exposed to fluctuating loads from the surrounding fluid.

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

Generation of rotating intensity blades by superposing optical vortex beams
A kind of optical beam with controllable rotating intensity blades is generated by coaxially superposing two optical vortex beams with frequency difference (Delta omega), different topological charges (m(1) and m(2)) and equal amplitude.

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...
