Flow Between Eccentric Rotating Cylinders
Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1972The flow between eccentric rotating cylinders is studied using a modified bipolar coordinate system. The Sommerfeld pressure distribution and associated flow in a journal bearing are derived from the Navier-Stokes equations by a straightforward and systematic expansion in the clearance ratio (assumed small).

Physics of Fluids, 2011Flow past two uniformly rotating cylinders with the same rotation rates in a side-by-side configuration is studied experimentally. The experiments are carried out at Reynolds numbers, Re, of 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 and nondimensional rotation rates, α, varying from 0 to 5. The spacing ratios, T/D, are 1.8, 2.5, 4.0, and 7.5.
