Mergers of two carbon-oxygen white dwarfs have long been suspected to be progenitors of Type Ia Supernovae. Here we present our modifications to the cosmological smoothed particle hydrodynamics code Gadget to apply it to stellar physics including but not

Influence of fuel inhomogeneity on detonation wave propagation in a rotating detonation combustor
Rotating detonation combustor (RDC) is a form of pressure gain combustion, which is thermodynamically more efficient than the traditional constant-pressure combustors.

Reaction Mechanism, Challenges, and Strategies of High‐Energy‐Density Sodium‐Ion Batteries
Focusing on high‐energy‐density sodium‐ion batteries, this review highlights the advantages offered by conversion‐type cathode materials. The currently studied cathode materials are systematically introduced. By analyzing sulfur, oxygen, and transition metal halides and other conversion‐type cathodes, the key challenges associated with these cathodes ...

Preliminary Computational Assessment of Disk Rotating Detonation Engine Configurations [PDF]
A rotating detonation engine (RDE) configuration whereby the working fluid enters and exits in a predominantly radial manner is examined using a quasi-two-dimensional computational fluid dynamic simulation. The simulation, based on a Cartesian coordinate

Surface Detonations in Double Degenerate Binary Systems Triggered by Accretion Stream Instabilities
We present three-dimensional simulations on a new mechanism for the detonation of a sub-Chandrasekhar CO white dwarf in a dynamically unstable system where the secondary is either a pure He white dwarf or a He/CO hybrid.

Inspired by nature's competitive maneuvers, this study introduces a combustion‐driven soft actuator that powers a multi‐modal “Jump‐and‐Fly Catbot” (JFC). With millisecond response, high‐force output (over 70 times its weight) and precise control (error within 5%), the robot can jump, fly, hover, and escape from challenging environments, achieving ...

Monolithic 3D Printing of Origami‐Inspired Soft Robotics from Sustainable Bio‐Based Resin
This work develops a photocurable, bio‐based resin from soybean oil for the monolithic fabrication of sustainable soft robots via Digital Light Processing. An origami‐inspired, vacuum‐actuated soft gripper is designed and fabricated, enabling reliable operation despite the material's lower elongation.

Analysis of Development Trends for Rotating Detonation Engines Based on Experimental Studies
Rotating detonation engines (RDEs), which are Humphrey cycle-based constant-volume combustion engines, utilize detonation waves to attain higher efficiencies compared with conventional constant-pressure combustion engines through pressure gain.
