Heat Transfer Measurements on a Rotating Disk [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 1997
Heat transfer to a rotating disk is measured for a wide range of Reynolds number values in the laminar, transitional and turbulent flow regimes. Measurements are performed by making use of the heated‐thin‐foil technique and by gauging temperature maps with an infrared scanning radiometer.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Analytical and Numerical Bending Solutions for Thermoelastic Functionally Graded Rotating Disks with Nonuniform Thickness Based on Mindlin’s Theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Analysis, 2017
In this paper, analytical and numerical solutions for thermoelastic functionally graded (FG) rotating disks with non-uniform thickness under lateral pressure are studied. The study is performed based on Mindlin’s theory. Considering the fact that bending

Conformational Switching of Proteins on Material Surfaces Enabled by Peptide‐Oriented Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Responsive biointerfaces could be achieved using conformationally responsive proteins; however, their interconversion can be lost upon surface adsorption. Herein, we demonstrate that the incorporation a Au binding peptide into calmodulin allows for binding control on Au wherein the protein retains conformational switching. This capability was confirmed

Numerical Study for Magnetohydrodynamic Flow of Nanofluid Due to a Rotating Disk with Binary Chemical Reaction and Arrhenius Activation Energy

open access: yesSymmetry, 2019
This article examines magnetohydrodynamic 3D nanofluid flow due to a rotating disk subject to Arrhenius activation energy and heat generation/absorption. Flow is created due to a rotating disk. Velocity, temperature and concentration slips at the surface

Stability of the flow over a rough, rotating disk [PDF]

open access: yes
This thesis is concerned with discovering the effect of a distributed roughness on the boundary-layer stability of a rotating disk. The investigation uses both a local, linear stability analysis and machined aluminium disks rotating in water in ...

Elastoplastic deformations of rotating parabolic solid disks using Tresca's yield criterion

open access: yes, 2003
Analytical solutions for the stress distribution in rotating parabolic solid disks are obtained. The analysis is based on Tresca's yield criterion, its associated flow rule and linear strain hardening.

3D Bioprinted Glioblastoma Multiforme Models: How the Extracellular Matrix Glycosignature Influences Drug Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aberrant glycosylation in the glioblastoma tumor microenvironment drives therapeutic resistance. Here, a 3D bioprinted model was engineered by incorporating α‐NeuNAc‐(2→3)‐β‐D‐Gal‐ and chondroitin sulfate. Combined multiplex immunofluorescence and synchrotron‐based nanoCT analysis revealed that glycan‐matrix interactions dictate specific drug‐escape ...

Non-Darcy flow of water-based single (SWCNTs) and multiple (MWCNTs) walls carbon nanotubes with multiple slip conditions due to rotating disk

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
This article investigate additional physical results about the enhancement of thermophysical characteristics of carbon-water nanotube using engine and kerosene oils due to rotating porous disk. Flow in porous space is characterized by non-Darcy relation (

Bio‐Inspired Artificial Ionic Mechanoreceptor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A skin‐inspired artificial mechanoreceptor based on ionic interactions is presented for biomimetic tactile sensing. Pressure‐driven ionic redistribution within microfluidic channels generates a self‐powered electrical signal without external bias. The generated waveform exhibits mechanoreceptor‐like temporal features, including overshoot and undershoot,
