Heat Transfer Measurements on a Rotating Disk [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 1997
Heat transfer to a rotating disk is measured for a wide range of Reynolds number values in the laminar, transitional and turbulent flow regimes. Measurements are performed by making use of the heated‐thin‐foil technique and by gauging temperature maps with an infrared scanning radiometer.

Additively Manufactured Rotating Disk Electrodes and Experimental Setup. [PDF]

open access: yesAnal Chem, 2022
This manuscript details the first report of a complete additively manufactured rotating disk electrode setup, highlighting how high-performing equipment can be designed and produced rapidly using additive manufacturing without compromising on performance.

Rotating-Disk-Based Hybridized Electromagnetic–Triboelectric Nanogenerator for Sustainably Powering Wireless Traffic Volume Sensors

open access: yes, 2016
Wireless traffic volume detectors play a critical role for measuring the traffic-flow in a real-time for current Intelligent Traffic System. However, as a battery-operated electronic device, regularly replacing battery remains a great challenge ...

Geometry of an Accelerated Rotating Disk [PDF]

open access: yesGeneral Relativity and Gravitation, 2004
We analyze the geometry of a rotating disk with a tangential acceleration in the framework of the Special Theory of Relativity, using the kinematic linear differential system that verifies the relative position vector of time-like curves in a Fermi reference.

Vibration characteristics of a functionally graded polymer nanocomposite shaft-disk rotor reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets

open access: yesPolymers and Polymer Composites, 2023
In this paper, a rotating functionally graded (FG) polymer nanocomposite shaft-disk assembly reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) resting on elastic supports is modelled and its vibration behaviours are analysed.

PIV measurement of vortical structures in a model of semiconductor single wafer cleaner

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
In a single wafer spin cleaner, the wafer is rotated at high speed to spin off ultrapure water and clean air is blown perpendicular onto the surface to dry the wafer.

Effects of wall compliance on the laminar–turbulent transition of torsional Couette flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Torsional Couette flow between a rotating disk and a stationary wall is studied experimentally. The surface of the disk is either rigid or covered with a compliant coating.

Experimental Measurements of the Natural Frequencies and Mode Shapes of Rotating Disk-Blades-Disk Assemblies from the Stationary Frame

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Determining the natural frequencies and mode shapes of rotating turbomachinery components from both rotating and stationary reference frames is of paramount importance to avoid resonance problems that could affect the normal operation of the machine, or ...

Global behaviour corresponding to the absolute instability of the rotating-disc boundary layer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A study is carried out of the linear global behaviour corresponding to the absolute instability of the rotating-disc boundary layer. It is based on direct numerical simulations of the complete linearized Navier–Stokes equations obtained with the novel ...
