Performance Enhancement of a Low-Pressure Ratio Centrifugal Compressor Stage with a Rotating Vaneless Diffuser by Impeller Disk Extended Shrouds

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2016
Numerical simulations have been carried out to examine the performance and flow parameters of forced rotating vaneless diffuser obtained by the extension of impeller disks of a low-pressure ratio shrouded type centrifugal compressor stage with diffuser ...

Effects of the rotation number on flow and heat transfer in contra-rotating disk cavity with superposed flow

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The turbulent fluid flow and convective heat transfer in counter-rotating disk cavity with central axial air inflow and radial air outflow are numerically studied based on the finite volume method.

A Theoretical Study of Ingress for Shrouded Rotating Disk Systems With Radial Outflow [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Turbomachinery, 1989
Sealing of the cavity formed between a stationary disk and a rotating disk under axisymmetric conditions is considered. A mathematical model of the flow in the cavity based on momentum integral methods is described and this is coupled to a simple model of the seal for the case when no ingress occurs.

Reasoning without consensus: grassroots experiments in radical inclusion in Israel/Palestine Raisonner sans consensus : expériences locales d'inclusion radicale en Israël et en Palestine

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Volume 31, Issue 4, Page 1079-1097, December 2025.
Liberal public reason seeks to provide a neutral platform for political engagement. Yet, its conditions, notably the rules of engagement and the demand for consensus, effectively exclude many populations with non‐liberal subjectivities from public participation.

Comparative study on the complex behaviour of flow fields in a transparent non-axisymmetric corotating system between two arm-insertion angles at two measurement planes in an enclosure

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology
Flow driven by co-rotating disks, such as hard disk drives (HDD) have been studied in previous research using axisymmetric models. In our work, a unique non-axisymmetric 3.5" transparent HDD model for information storage was used to investigate the ...

POD-based frequency study of rotating stall in splitter pump-turbines [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
Rotating stall (RS) compromises pump-turbine stability by inducing strong inter-blade flow separation and low-frequency pressure/velocity fluctuations, especially in the pumping hump region.

The Influence of Swirl Brakes on the Rotordynamic Forces Generated by Discharge-to-Suction Leakage Flows in Centrifugal Pumps [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Increasing interest has been give to swirl brakes as a means of reducing destabilizing rotordynamic forces due to leakage flows in new high speed rocket turbopumps.

An Adapted Rotating Disk Electrode Setup to Test Nonstandard‐Disk Electrodes: On the Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution Performance of Model Dewetted Pt Nanoparticles Versus Pt Thin Films under Hydrodynamic Conditions

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 21, November 3, 2025.
A rotating‐disk‐electrode adapter is designed to investigate non‐standard‐disk‐electrodes under defined mass transport conditions. The hydrogen evolution performance of model Pt film versus thermally dewetted Pt nanoparticle (NP) electrodes is tested.

Effects of Cavitation on Rotordynamic Force Matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
When designing a turbomachine, particularly one which is to operate at high speed, it is important to be able to predict the fluid-induced forces, both steady and unsteady, acting on the various components of the machine.

Maximizing Scientific Exploitation of Raman Spectroscopy With A.C.M.E. (Atmospheric Chamber for Measurements in Environment)

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 56, Issue 11, Page 1394-1403, November 2025.
Simulated planetary gas detection using the A.C.M.E. chamber and a novel hollow‐core fiber Raman sensor. Controlled atmospheric mixtures were used to evaluate the sensor’s performance, demonstrating its capability to detect gases such as CO₂, O₂, and N₂. The results support the applicability of the HCF‐based Raman sensor in future planetary exploration
