Solid–Liquid Flow Analysis of Francis‐99 Turbine Runner: Effects of Sediment Concentration

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 8, Page 4131-4142, August 2025.
ABSTRACT This study examines the behavior of solid–liquid two‐phase flow within the runner of the Francis‐99 turbine. Numerical simulations were carried out by Ansys Fluent software using the Mixture multiphase flow model along with the Realizable k‐ε turbulence model to analyze the solid–liquid two‐phase flow in the turbine runner.

A New Add‐On Flap for Performance Improvement of Small Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 8, Page 4230-4240, August 2025.
ABSTRACT In the present study, two types of add‐on flaps tangential to the camber line of small horizontal axis wind turbine blade are introduced and their performances on the production power are investigated. The wind turbine of Berlin University (TU‐BERT) is used as the base turbine and the flaps' length, angle, and their locations on the blade are ...

Clinical comparison of adaptive 4DCBCT scanning protocols for lung tumor motion assessment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 26, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract Background Adaptive four‐dimensional cone beam computed tomography (4DCBCT) has been proposed as a novel method to reduce imaging dose and scan time. This technology involves both adaptive imaging and motion‐compensated reconstruction. However, no study has been performed in a lung cancer patient cohort to confirm that adaptive 4DCBCT ...

3-D Viscous Flow Analysis of a Mixed Flow Pump Impeller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2001
This paper presents the results of a study using a coarse grid to analyze the flow in the impeller of a mixed flow pump. A commercial computational fluid dynamics code (FLOTRAN) is used to solve the 3-D Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes equations in a ...

Local Heat Transfer Measurements on a Rotating Flat Blade Model with a Single Film Hole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
An experimental study was performed to measure the heat transfer coefficient distributions on a flat blade model under rotating operating conditions. A steady-state thermochromic liquid crystal technique was employed to measure the surface temperature ...
