Active Control of an Axial Flow Compressor via Pulsed Air Injection [PDF]
This paper presents the use of pulsed air injection to control the onset of rotating stall in a low-speed, axial flow compressor. By measuring the unsteady pressures near the rotor face, a control algorithm determines the magnitude and phase of the

Unified Treatment of Flow Instabilities of Turbomachines [PDF]
The relationship among four flow instabilities of turbomachines, namely, surge, rotating stall, cavitation surge, and rotating cavitation, is elucidated, using a unified or common model for their analysis. The simplest unifying model was employed in the

The translation factor Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A (eIF5A) is essential for male fertility in mice. It supports the translation of proteins crucial for heterochromatin organization and acrosome formation. eIF5A deficiency disrupts chromocenter integrity, increases chromatin accessibility, and causes transcriptional dysregulation ...

Farmers’ Protests in Germany: Media Coverage and Types of Bias
ABSTRACT The German farmers’ protests of 2024 sparked widespread media coverage and public debate. Yet, media coverage was not always positive, reflecting the media's attention‐seeking and selective focus. Occurrences of farmers blocking media outlets reflected distrust in how their concerns were portrayed.

Minimum and Maximum Limit to Number of Myosin II Motors Participating in an Ensemble Motility [PDF]
Extensive research on centrifugal compressors has been planned to define diffuser stall limits for a group of stages characterized by low blade-outlet-width-to-impeller-radius-ratio.

A Robotic Urinary Bladder Enabling Volume Monitoring and Assisted Micturition
An implantable robotic bladder is presented that can store urine in an origami‐designed enclosure. An inductance sensing principle can monitor and transfer the urine volume in real‐time. It can actively expand based on the amount of urine collected from kidneys and apply on‐demand mechanical compression to assist urination.

Rotating Stall Inception Prediction Using an Eigenvalue-Based Global Instability Analysis Method
The accurate prediction of rotating stall inception is critical for determining the stable operating regime of a compressor. Among the two widely accepted pathways to stall, namely, modal and spike, the former is plausibly believed to originate from a ...

Unsteady flow structures can lead to severe vibration in centrifugal pump if the eigenfrequency of the rotor is equal to excitation frequency. In order to reduce rotor-stator interaction in centrifugal pump, a special slope volute was proposed.

A stall‐delay model for rotating blades [PDF]
AbstractThe paper is aimed at describing a fundamental phenomenon: the effect of rotation on the inboard blade boundary layer on a wind turbine. The three‐dimensional incompressible steady momentum integral boundary‐layer equations are used to predict the boundary‐layer growth and limiting streamline angles on the blade surface for both attached and ...

Multimodal Locomotion of Soft Robots
This review comprehensively surveys recent advances in multimodal locomotion within soft robotics. Typical locomotion modes are summarized and categorized. Furthermore, the underlying mechanisms enabling multimodal locomotion are discussed and classified into three primary categories: active control‐based, reconfiguration‐based, and environment ...
