Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Structural and biochemical insights into the thermostable esterase Ta0887 from Thermoplasma acidophilum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel esterase from the thermoacidophilic archaeon Thermoplasma acidophilum was biochemically and structurally characterized. Our results demonstrate that Ta0887 is a highly thermostable esterase that preferentially hydrolyzes p‐nitrophenyl hexanoate and possesses an α‐helical cap domain that likely contributes to its substrate ...

Deep Learning Pose Estimation for Phenotyping of Co‐Occurring Hyperkinetic Movement Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore whether routine outpatient video combined with deep learning‐based pose estimation and clinically interpretable kinematic features can support multi‐label phenotyping of co‐occurring hyperkinetic movement disorders (HMDs).

Factor Analysis: Chisquare as Rotation Criterion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The rotation problem in factor analysis consists in finding an orthogonal transformation of the initial factor loadings so that the rotated loadings have a simple structure that can be easily interpreted.

Kinematics of Nonnominal Euler Axis/Angle Rotation

open access: yes, 2015
Euler axis/angle is a useful representation in many attitude control problems, being related to the single rotation that takes an “initial” reference frame to a “target” reference frame.

Gravity‐Dependent Modulation of Downbeat Nystagmus: Insights From Velocity‐Storage Dysfunction

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Downbeat nystagmus varies with head position, a phenomenon termed gravity‐dependent modulation. We aimed to clarify its mechanism using a velocity‐storage model. Methods In 10 patients with downbeat nystagmus due to cerebellar disorders, we recorded eye movements at different pitch‐ and roll‐axis head positions.

Faraday rotation estimation Performance analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Different Faraday Rotation (FR) estimators are discussed, their estimation performances are assessed and compared to each other. The algorithms are applied on a set of quad-pol ALOS Pal-SAR data and the obtained estimates are validated against FR values ...

Shorter Path Design and Control for an Underactuated Satellite

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2017
In the event of a control failure on an axis of a spacecraft, a target attitude can be achieved by several sequential rotations around the remaining control axes.

Triangular Index Ratio as an Alternative Method to the Alpha Angle for Defining the Presence of Cam Morphology: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Cam morphology, which is a significant risk factor for hip osteoarthritis, is commonly quantified by the alpha angle (AA). This study aims to explore the potential of the triangular index ratio (TIR) to quantify cam morphology on anteroposterior radiographs by assessing the association between TIR‐defined cam morphology and the development of

Solution to the Inverse Problem of the Angular Manipulator Kinematics with Six Degrees of Freedom

open access: yesApplied Sciences
New analytical solutions for the inverse kinematics problem of a 6R manipulator are proposed. Based on the assumption that the rotation axes of the last three links intersect at a common point, the problem is divided into orientation and transition ...
