The minimum rotation period of millisecond pulsars [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society: Letters, 2021
ABSTRACT A simple and natural explanation for the minimum period of millisecond pulsars follows from a correlation between the accretion rate and the frozen surface dipole magnetic field resulting from ohmic diffusion through the neutron star crust in initial stages of accretion in low-mass X-ray binaries.

THE RESEARCH OF VARIATION OF THE PERIOD AND PRECESSION OF THE ROTATION AXIS OF EGS (AJISAI) SATELLITE BY USING PHOTOMETRIC MEASUREMENT

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2014
The light curves of EGS Ajisai with temporal resolution of 20 ms referred to the time scale UTC (GPS) with an error of at most 0.1 ms were obtained. The observed flashes are produced when the mirrors which cover the spinning satellite’s surface reflect ...

Temporal Variation of the Rotation in the Solar Transition Region

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
The temporal variations of solar rotation in the photosphere, chromosphere, and corona have been widely investigated, whereas the rotation of the solar transition region is rarely studied. Here, we perform a primary study about the long-term variation of

Forestry adaptation measures at the decline of Norway spruce (Picea abies Karst.) stands as exemplified by the Silesian Beskids, Czech Republic

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2011
At the beginning of this century, particularly after 2003, decline of Picea abies occurred at Forest District Jablunkov in the Silesian Beskids. This decline is of the complex character disease caused by the synergetic effects of abiotic, biotic and ...

Changes in Physical Properties of Fine - Textured Soils Occurred Within a Rotation Period of 21 Years in Pinus pirıaster (Aiton) Plantations Established by Mechanized Soil Preparation Methods

open access: yesForestist, 2007
This study \vas conducted to exam ine the changes in physical properties of soils prepared with different m ethods in Kerpe (Turkey), in 1978. The site preparation m ethods were: 1) strip soil preparation (0-60 cm) vvitlı rippers m ounted to D 85-A 12 ...

Limiting rotational period of neutron stars [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1992
Pulsars have been identified with the theoretical objects called neutron stars. The identification is convincing—but not proved. The short rotational periods of millisecond pulsars inform us that the average density (and, therefore, the central density) must be very high—higher than the density of nuclei (5.8).

Modeling the Rising Tails of Galaxy Rotation Curves

open access: yesGalaxies, 2019
It is well known, but under-appreciated in astrophysical applications, that it is possible for gravity to take on a life of its own in the form of Weyl-curvature-only metrics (note that we are referring to the Weyl-only solutions of ordinary General ...

Dependence of Stellar Differential Rotation on Effective Temperature and Rotation: An Analysis from Starspot Transit Mapping

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Stellar rotation is crucial for studying stellar evolution, since it provides information about age, angular momentum transfer, and magnetic fields of stars.

Weathering rates of Ca and Mg related to granitic and gabbro mineralogy in boreal forest soils and the effect of mechanical soil disturbance on weathering release

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2023
This study’s aim was to calculate the weathering rates of Ca and Mg for five boreal forest soils in southern Finland on granitic and gabbro containing bedrock. The effect of mineralogy on the total concentrations of Ca and Mg in soil and weathering rates
