ROTATION NUMBER, PERIODIC FUČIK SPECTRUM AND MULTIPLE PERIODIC SOLUTIONS

Communications in Contemporary Mathematics, 2010
In this paper, we will introduce the rotation number for the one-dimensional asymmetric p-Laplacian with a pair of periodic potentials. Two applications of this notion will be given. One is a clear characterization of two unbounded sequences of Fučik curves of the periodic Fučik spectrum of the p-Laplacian with potentials. With the help of the Poincaré–

Three-dimensional periodicity and twelvefold rotational symmetry

Physical Review Letters, 1990
Two 3D periodic structures are introduced based on so-called {ital T} polyhedrons. These structures can be used as mathematical models to describe the VNi alloys system in order to explain the twelvefold rotational symmetry in electron-diffraction patterns of VNi alloys. The 3D atomic models of the VNi alloy are first presented in this paper.

Rotational period of comet Halley

Nature, 1986
Results are reported from ground-based photometric measurements of the variations in Comet Halley emissions at different wavelengths in order to calculate the comet rotation rate. The data, gathered at Cerro Tololo, included the OH, NH, CN, C3, CO(+) and C2 bands and continuum emissions at 3650 and 4845 A.

Rotating pendulum under periodic disturbance

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1969

Rotation period of comet Donati

Nature, 1978
Consideration is given to the rotation period of comet Donati (1858 VI) whose haloes were approximate parabolic envelopes having foci near the apparent nucleus and vertices toward the sun forward from the tail axis. The regularity and sharpness of the halves suggest that they represent the repetitive ejection of material from an active area which is ...

Mercury's rotation axis and period

Icarus, 1976
Recent measurements made from high-resolution Mariner 10 photography of the planet Mercury yield a rotation period of 58.6461 + or 0.005 days, in excellent agreement with the period required for a precise 2/3 resonance with its orbital period (58.6462 days).

Rotational epitaxy of periodic overlayers

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1985
Rotational epitaxy refers to the alignment of a solid overlayer along a specific orientation relative to the substrate. Rotational epitaxy along nonsymmetry orientations represent an important alternative to pseudomorphic strain or misfit dislocations for the accommodation of lattice misfit in epitaxial thin films.
