A high reynolds number rotating disk rheometer
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1994AbstractThe construction and principles of operation of a rotating disk rheometer are outlined as is its use in the study of polymeric fluid drag reduction. The need for a sensitive measuring system under a wide variation of Reynolds numbers has prompted the development of a computer‐controlled system that allows a systematic measurement of the ...

Determining True Material Constants of Semisolid Slurries from Rotational Rheometer Data
Solid State Phenomena, 2016In this work we revisit the issue of obtaining true material constants for semisolid slurries. Therefore, we consider the circular Couette flow of Herschel-Bulkley fluids. We first show how true constants can be obtained using an iterative procedure from experimental data to theory and vice versa.

Rotational and Sliding Surface Rheometers
1990There are two basic types of instrument for measuring shear properties: capillary and slit rheometers in which the flow is generated by a pressure drop; and drag flow rheometers in which one bounding wall moves relative to a second, stationary wall.

A rotational rheometer with a drag‐cup torque transducer
Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Physics Edition, 1975AbstractA rotational cone‐and‐plate rheometer incorporating a drag‐cup torque transducer and a frictionless, wire suspension has been designed and constructed. The instrument design provides for a controlled atmosphere for the sample, including anhydrous conditions necessary for studies on solutions of polymers in strong acids.

Measuring uniaxial extensional viscosity using a modified rotational rheometer
Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, 1999Knowledge of the extensional behaviour of polymer melts is extremely important due to the industrial relevance of extensional flows in common processing techniques and sequences such as blow moulding, film blowing, fibre spinning, melt flow through extrusion dies and injection mould filling.
