Design and Evaluation of a Pressure Attachment for a Rotational Rheometer

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1970
The problems associated with the measurement of the rheological properties of pressurized aerosol concentrates consisting of emulsions and/or micellar solutions are discussed. A pressure attachment for a commercially available rheometer is described, and data are presented for simple soap formulations.

High-temperature rotating cylinder rheometer for studying metallic glass forming liquids

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2018
A high-temperature Couette rotating cylinder rheometer has been developed for shear viscosity investigations of metallic glass forming liquids under precisely controlled flow and environmental conditions. These materials generally exhibit viscosities in the range of 10−2 to 10−1 Pa s above their liquidus temperature. While knowledge of the viscosity is

Large Step Shear Strain Experiments with Parallel‐Disk Rotational Rheometers

Journal of Rheology, 1984
A new method is proposed and tested for step shear strain experiments with parallel‐disk rotational rheometers. The method is applicable to large strains, i.e., outside the linear viscoelastic region. The nonhomogeneity of the strain in the parallel‐disk rheometer is accounted for by a correction term which is similar to the well‐known Rabinowitsch ...

Characteristics of magnetic compound fluid (MCF) in a rotating rheometer

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2002
As a new intelligent or smart fluid, we propose a magnetic compound fluid (MCF). This fluid has nm size magnetite and μm size iron particles in a solvent. The magnetic field effect on flow characteristics of MCF can demonstrate midpoint between magnetic fluid (MF) and magneto-rheological fluid (MRF).

Rheological Investigation of Wood-Polypropylene Composites in Rotational Plate Rheometer

Journal of Polymers and the Environment, 2012
In this research work, the rheological properties of Wood-Plastic Composites (WPC) with some selected compositions are investigated. WPC is being recognized as a green composite that, in the past 20 years, has emerged to a commercial product. A study on rheological properties of these materials can give insight into the proper selection of composition ...

Commercial rotational rheometers

1998
Materials generally show a broad spectrum of behaviour, the rheological properties lying between the extremes of a truly elastic and an ideally viscous response. The rheological testing procedures involve measuring the response of a material to an applied deformation but, given that ideality in response is rarely encountered, a straightforward ...

Determination of nanomaterial viscosity and rheology properties using a rotational rheometer

2022
Rheology studies the flow of matter and is one of the most important methods for materials characterization because flow behavior is responsive to properties such as molecular weight and molecular weight distribution. Rheological properties help practitioners understand fluid flow and how to improve manufacturing processes.

The concept of a rotational rheometer with helical screw impeller

Rheologica Acta, 1988
The paper is concerned with the development of an on-line rheometer for suspensions with settling particles. A new concept of a rotational rheometer with helical screw impeller is discussed. On the basis of model considerations a procedure for the flow curve determination of the investigated fluid has been proposed.

A fixture for interfacial dilatational rheometry using a rotational rheometer

The European Physical Journal Special Topics, 2013
In characterizing complex fluid-fluid interfaces, interfacial rheometry has become an important tool to indirectly probe the interfacial microstructure and molecular interactions. It can also be useful to obtain the constitutive properties of an interface for calculating the interfacial flows of complex fluid-fluid interfaces.
