Development of Steps in an Automated Process Chain for Piezoceramic-Metal Compound Production

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing, 2019
The potential of adaptronic applications has been proven in many conceptual studies. A broad use in high-efficiency branches is often hindered by the absence of an appropriate assembly method. Especially for piezoceramic foil transducers, the application

Serpentine channels: micro -- rheometers for fluid relaxation times [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a novel device capable of measuring the relaxation time of viscoelastic fluids as small as 1\,ms. In contrast to most rheometers, which by their very nature are concerned with producing viscometric or nearly-viscometric flows, here we make use

An Electrically-Recording Rotational Rheometer

open access: yesjournal of the Japan Society for Testing Materials, 1959
A coaxial cylindrical rheometer was developed for measuring viscoelastic properties of liquid by rotational and/or oscillational method. A feature of this apparatus is the fully automatic recording system which is achieved by means of the electric driving and detecting units.A torque-motor, instead of a torsion wire, is connected to inner cylinder and ...

A Printed Zinc‐Ion Microbattery with Extended Shelf Life and Durability for Energy Autonomous Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully printed aqueous zinc‐ion microbattery (ZnIB) enabled by graphene‐decorated zinc anode and printed MnO@NC cathode using sustainable aqueous‐based ink formulations. The printed 3D electrodes ensure uniform zinc deposition, low overpotential, and long‐term stability.

Pressure Drop Method as a Useful Tool for Detecting Rheological Properties of Non-Newtonian Fluids during Flow

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The aim of the research was to develop a pressure drop measuring method dedicated to fluids under real flow through a pipeline. The measurement system is a set of appropriately configured flow meter and pressure sensors installed on the pipeline.

Shear thickening in densely packed suspensions of spheres and rods confined to few layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate confined shear thickening suspensions for which the sample thickness is comparable to the particle dimensions. Rheometry measurements are presented for densely packed suspensions of spheres and rods with aspect ratios 6 and 9.

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Manipulating the morphology of poly (ethylene terephthlate) blends by capillary rheometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The present work describes the formation of co-continuous phase morphologies in uncompatibilized and compatibilized poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/poly(m-xylene adipamide) (MXD6) melt-extruded blends.

Round Robin Study of Rotational Strain Rheometers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A round robin of testing was performed to compare the performance of rotational dynamic mechanical spectrometers being used within the nuclear weapons complex. Principals from Sandia National Laboratories/New Mexico; Lockheed Martin Y12 Plant at Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico (polycarbonate only); and Honeywell Federal
