A Variable Speed Rotational Viscosimeter

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1947
The article gives a detailed description of design and construction of a variable speed rotational viscosimeter to measure the rheological properties of systems within a viscosity range of 10−1 to 104 poise. The use of a strain gauge to measure the torque is discussed briefly.

A Method of Measuring Rotational Speed for a High-Speed Rotator Based on DSP

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
Requirements for the device of measuring rotational speed is high-accuracy, stabilization, credibility, and shorter measuring time during the dynamic-balancing process. This paper studies a way of measuring rotator reference signal based on DSP(digital signal processing).

Speed and direction of shift rotation

Journal of Sleep Research, 1995
SUMMARY  This review paper deals with the issue of shift rotation, i.e. the number of consecutive shifts of the same type and the order of change between shifts. To minimize the disturbances of the circadian system and the accumulation of sleep deficits, rapidly and clockwise‐rotating shift systems would seem to be preferable.

A high-speed rotation processor

1994
We present a high-speed rotation processor for rotating digital images based on the backrotation algorithm. The design is part of our research project on real time volume visualization architectures. The processor is implemented on an Actel FPGA and the solution is compared to a Xilinx implementation.

On the Subcritical Speeds of the Rotating Shaft

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1932
Abstract Disturbances sometimes encountered at speeds above the fundamental whirling speed, having the fundamental frequency, are usually, and correctly, attributed to internal friction. Other disturbances frequently met with at speeds below the fundamental whirling speed, and when the motions also have the fundamental natural frequency,

The Bursting Speed of a Rotating Plastic Disc

Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1954
Abstract : An analysis is presented of the stresses and strains in a fully plastic, initially uniform, rotating annular disk composed of a strain-hardening material. The analysis is based on Tresca's yield condition and the associated flow rule and assumes that elastic strains may be neglected in comparison to the finite plastic strains.

Effect of diazepam on the speed of mental rotation

Psychopharmacology, 1987
The effect of diazepam on spatial visualization was studied using a double-blind crossover design. Diazepam 10 mg (or placebo) was given orally to 12 healthy young men at bedtime, followed again by 10 mg (or placebo) the next morning. One hour after the administration of the morning dose, the subjects performed a mental rotation task.

Impact of practice on speed of mental rotation

Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1990
We tested 11- and 20-year-olds on 3360 trials of a mental rotation task in which they judged if stimuli presented in different orientations were letters or mirror images of letters. Children's and adults' processing times decreased substantially over practice.
