Ecological Goods and Services Survey Summary Prepared for: Lower Souris Watershed Committee [PDF]

open access: yes
An interview based survey of farm landowners in the south east corner of Saskatchewan was undertaken to evaluate the provision of wildlife habitat by agriculture. Producers were asked to provide management information regarding a piece of their land that

Machine Learning‐Guided Engineering of Protein Phase Separation Properties in Immune Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PScalpel, a machine learning model integrating protein structure extraction, graph contrastive learning, and a genetic algorithm, guides the engineering of protein phase separation ability. It adopts transfer learning methods to provide predictive recommendations for protein phase separation ability changes through single amino acid mutations in a ...

Animal and pasture responses in contrasting temperate pasture-based cattle management systems: set-stocking versus cell grazing

open access: yesAnimal
Grasslands cover a significant portion of the Earth’s land and offer many benefits. In the UK, they constitute the largest agricultural area and support livestock production.

ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF CONTROLLING LEAFY SPURGE WITH SHEEP [PDF]

open access: yes
Leafy spurge (Euphorbia esula L.), a widely established exotic, noxious, perennial weed, is a major threat to rangeland and wildland in the Upper Great Plains. Chemical, biological, and cultural control methods have limitations in their applicability and

A guide to organic grassland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Organic farming systems in the UK are traditionally based on ley/arable crop rotations. Up to 70% of the farmed area comprises of mixed grass and legume leys. These leys offer a powerful mechanism for supplying nitrogen through their potential to harvest

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.

ALKBH3 m1A Demethylase Deficiency Reduces Alzheimer's Amyloid‐β Pathology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies that ALKBH3‐driven m1A demethylation orchestrates Alzheimer's disease progression by disrupting mitochondrial and synaptic homeostasis. This epitranscriptomic mechanism suppresses PINK1‐mediated mitophagy via m1A erasure, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, elevated Aβ production, and impaired microglial ...

Impacts of Rotational Grazing on Soil Carbon in Native Grass-Based Pastures in Southern Australia.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Rotational grazing management strategies have been promoted as a way to improve the sustainability of native grass-based pasture systems. From disturbance ecology theory, rotational grazing relative to continuous grazing can increase pasture productivity

On-farm trials with rice fish cultivation in the west Kano rice irrigation scheme, Kenya [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The viability of integrating rice farming with fish culture was studied in ten (10) rice plots. The on-farm research was done during one rice-growing season starting May 2003.

Polydopamine‐Encapsulated Probiotics Restore Gut Homeostasis and Reinstate Macrophage Efferocytosis in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polydopamine‐encapsulated probiotics restore gut homeostasis and reinstate macrophage efferocytosis, thereby reestablishing immune tolerance and mitigating systemic autoimmunity, highlighting a bioengineered microbiota‐based therapeutic strategy for SLE.
