General rotational ξ−surfaces in Euclidean spaces

open access: yesTURKISH JOURNAL OF MATHEMATICS, 2021
Summary: The general rotational surfaces in the Euclidean 4-space \(\mathbb{R}^4\) was first studied by \textit{C. L. E. Moore} [Ann. Math. (2) 21, 81--93 (1919; JFM 47.0974.01)]. The Vranceanu surfaces are the special examples of these kind of surfaces.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

CNNs on surfaces using rotation-equivariant features

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2020
This paper is concerned with a fundamental problem in geometric deep learning that arises in the construction of convolutional neural networks on surfaces. Due to curvature, the transport of filter kernels on surfaces results in a rotational ambiguity, which prevents a uniform alignment of these kernels on the surface. We propose a network architecture

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Dissimilar Friction Stir Welded AA2024-T4/AA7075-T6 T-Butt Joints

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Aircraft skin and stringer elements are typically fabricated from 2xxx and 7xxx series high strength aluminum alloys. A single friction stir welding (FSW) pass using a specially designed tool with shoulder/pin diameter ratio (D/d) of 3.20 is used to ...

Rotation Systems and Simple Drawings in Surfaces

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics
Every simple drawing of a graph in the plane naturally induces a rotation system, but it is easy to exhibit a rotation system that does not arise from a simple drawing in the plane. We extend this to all surfaces: for every fixed surface $\Sigma$, there is a rotation system that does not arise from a simple drawing in $\Sigma$.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Rotational Surfaces in Terms of Coordinate Finite Chen II-Type

open access: yesPan-American Journal of Mathematics
In this study, we first establish several formulae according to the first and second Beltrami operators. We discuss the class of surfaces of revolution in the 3-dimensional Euclidean space E3 without parabolic points, in which the position vector X ...
