157 Daily Versus Three Times a Week Ddgs Supplementation on Grazing Calves

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science, 2023
Supplemental feed may be provided to cattle in grazing systems to increase ADG, but can be labor intensive. This study evaluated the performance of steers grazing smooth bromegrass pastures supplemented dried distillers grains plus solubles (DDGS ...

16 Supplement Type Influenced the Immune Response of Nursing Ewes to the Natural Challenge of Gastrointestinal Parasites While Grazing in Woodlands

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science, 2023
Nutritional status influences the immune response of grazing animals to naturally occurring diseases and parasites. Provision of supplementary nutrients may enhance the resiliency of grazing animals to gastrointestinal parasites, which are posing a ...

Adaptive multi-paddock grazing enhances soil carbon and nitrogen stocks and stabilization through mineral association in southeastern U.S. grazing lands.

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Management, 2021
Grassland soils are a large reservoir of soil carbon (C) at risk of loss due to overgrazing in conventional grazing systems. By promoting regenerative grazing management practices that aim to increase soil C storage and soil health, grasslands have the ...

Effects of Climatic Conditions and Supplementation with Palm Cake on the Thermoregulation of Crossbred Buffaloes Raised in a Rotational Grazing System and with Natural Shade in Humid Tropical Regions

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
Simple Summary The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of climatic conditions and supplementation based on palm kernel cake, on the thermoregulation of crossbred buffaloes in the eastern Amazon.

Simulating Pasture Yield Under Alternative Environments and Grazing Management in Wisconsin, USA

open access: yesAgronomy
Pasture yield is crucial to the economic viability of grass-based livestock enterprises, yet the difficulty in predicting yields under various environmental and management conditions prevents effective planning.

Managing Grazing to Restore Soil Health, Ecosystem Function, and Ecosystem Services

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2020
Ruminants including domestic livestock, have been accused of causing damaging impacts on the global environment and human well-being. However, with appropriate management, ruminant livestock can play a significant role in efforts to reverse environmental

High‐Performance n‐Type Organic Thermoelectrics Enabled by Control Over Microstructure, Orientation and Contact Plane in Naphthalenediimide‐Bithiazole‐Copolymer Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Effective control over the crystalline contact plane and microstructure of a naphthalenediimide‐bithiazole copolymer enables high‐performance n‐type thermoelectrics. While rubbing alignment induces a detrimental edge‐on orientation, subsequent solvent vapor‐induced re‐orientation facilitates a favorable mixed face‐on/edge‐on morphology.

The grazing paradox: assessing contradictions of continuous versus rotational grazing systems in southern Africa

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Range & Forage Science
Unsustainable grazing practices result in degradation of arid and semiarid rangelands in southern Africa. Continuous grazing systems are often blamed for degradation, while rotational grazing systems are seen as more sustainable. The discussion about the

Asymmetric Lamellar Templating of the Perovskite/C60 Interface for Scalable Inverted Perovskite Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Asymmetric lamellar templating at the perovskite/C60 interface is achieved using a laterally polarized indole spacer. Surface anchoring and Ind–Ind assembly form a π‐rich lamellar interphase that supports uniform C60 contact formation, suppresses recombination, preserves electron extraction, and enables certified high‐efficiency cells and modules with ...
