An analysis of rotor-stator interaction
2012The aim of this paper is to investigate the influence of rotor-stator interaction on the dynamic behaviour of a rotor-bearing system. First the model of a SDOF system with two stop-ends is established. The analytical solution permits testing the stability and the robustness of the penalty contact law combined with two numerical schemes. Second, a three-

Onset of turbulence in rotor–stator cavity flows
Journal of Fluid MechanicsNumerous studies have indicated that turbulence typically initiates along the boundary layer of the stationary disk within a rotor–stator cavity. To describe the transition process to turbulence on the stationary side of a closed rotor–stator cavity, a comprehensive approach combining global linear stability analysis with direct numerical simulation ...

International Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow, 2006
Abstract Computer experiments (LES) of the axisymmetric and statistically steady turbulent flow between a rotating and a fixed disk have been performed. This flow is a representative of the flow in an unshrouded rotor–stator configuration. The flow is characterized only by a local Reynolds number and a local gap ratio, provided that the distance from

Grinding of Hexachloroethane in rotor–stator system

Calculation of unsteady rotor/stator interaction
21st Fluid Dynamics, Plasma Dynamics and Lasers Conference, 1990Numerical simulations of unsteady multi-airfoil rotorlstator interactions are examined using the Unified Solution Algorithms (USA) code. The numerical results compare well with experimental data. The capability of the USA code to perform time-accurate calculations with moving grids is shown. Quasi-steady and unsteady solutions are discussed.

Motion Patterns at Rotor Stator Contact
Volume 1: 20th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, Parts A, B, and C, 2005The present paper discusses the various movement patterns during rotor stator contact. Both rotor and stator are assumed to be flexible damped single degree of freedom systems. The contact is described by a flexible viscoelastic model. Dry friction between rotor and stator is taken into account.

Rotor - Stator Broadband Noise Prediction
14th AIAA/CEAS Aeroacoustics Conference (29th AIAA Aeroacoustics Conference), 2008In this paper a semi analytic model for rotor - stator broadband noise is presented. The work can be split into two sections. The first examines the distortion of the rotor wake in mean swirling flow, downstream of the fan. Previous work by Cooper and Peake 4 is extended to include dissipative effects.

Parallel Computation of Rotor-Stator Interaction
1998Numerical simulation of rotor-stator interaction is crucial for turboma-chinery improvement since it allows the optimization of blade path design. In addition, the numerical simulation of rotor-stator interaction makes it possible to predict the location and variation of hot spots on blades, which is extremely useful in the turbine thermal design ...
