Rubbing Phenomena in Rotor-Stator Contact

Nonlinear Dynamics and Stochastic Mechanics, 2000
Abstract This paper discusses the vibration phenomena of a rotor rubbing with a stator caused by an initial perturbation. The analytical model consists of a simple disc-shaft rotor and a fixed stator. The perturbation is an instantaneous change of the radial velocity when the rotor is rotating in its normal steady state. It is found that

Turbine Rotor-Stator Interaction

Journal of Engineering for Power, 1982
The aerodynamic interaction between the rotor and stator airfoils of a large scale axial turbine stage have been studied experimentally. The data included measurements of the time averaged and instantaneous surface pressures and surface thin film gage output on both the rotor and stator at midspan.

Multistage rotor‐stator spinning disc reactor

AIChE Journal, 2011
AbstractThe scale up of a rotor‐stator spinning disc reactor by stacking single stage rotor‐stator units in series is demonstrated. The gas‐liquid mass transfer per stage is equal to the mass transfer in a single stage spinning disc reactor. The pressure drop per stage increases with increasing rotational disc speed and liquid flow rate.

Rotor - Stator Broadband Noise Prediction

14th AIAA/CEAS Aeroacoustics Conference (29th AIAA Aeroacoustics Conference), 2008
In this paper a semi analytic model for rotor - stator broadband noise is presented. The work can be split into two sections. The first examines the distortion of the rotor wake in mean swirling flow, downstream of the fan. Previous work by Cooper and Peake 4 is extended to include dissipative effects.

Centrifugal Flow in a Rotor-Stator Cavity

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2005
The present work considers the turbulent flow inside an annular rotor-stator cavity with and without centrifugal throughflow. Extensive measurements performed using a two-component laser-Doppler anemometer technique, and pressure transducers are compared to numerical predictions based on one-point statistical modeling using a low-Reynolds-number second-

Polymerisable Miniemulsions Using Rotor‐Stator Homogenisers

Macromolecular Reaction Engineering, 2008
AbstractThe use of a rotor‐stator mixer as a homogenisation device to make miniemulsion droplets with industrially pertinent solid contents was investigated. Methyl methacrylate/butyl acrylate (50:50 w/w ratio) miniemulsions with droplet diameters from 2 µm to 300 nm and polydispersity indices from 1.2 to 3.6 were used.

LES of open rotor–stator flow

International Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow, 2006
Abstract Computer experiments (LES) of the axisymmetric and statistically steady turbulent flow between a rotating and a fixed disk have been performed. This flow is a representative of the flow in an unshrouded rotor–stator configuration. The flow is characterized only by a local Reynolds number and a local gap ratio, provided that the distance from

Motion Patterns at Rotor Stator Contact

Volume 1: 20th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, Parts A, B, and C, 2005
The present paper discusses the various movement patterns during rotor stator contact. Both rotor and stator are assumed to be flexible damped single degree of freedom systems. The contact is described by a flexible viscoelastic model. Dry friction between rotor and stator is taken into account.

Calculation of unsteady rotor/stator interaction

21st Fluid Dynamics, Plasma Dynamics and Lasers Conference, 1990
Numerical simulations of unsteady multi-airfoil rotorlstator interactions are examined using the Unified Solution Algorithms (USA) code. The numerical results compare well with experimental data. The capability of the USA code to perform time-accurate calculations with moving grids is shown. Quasi-steady and unsteady solutions are discussed.
