We present and analyse a simple model for the twisting somersault. The model is a rigid body with a rotor attached which can be switched on and off. This makes it simple enough to devise explicit analytical formulas whilst still maintaining sufficient complexity to preserve the shape-changing dynamics essential for twisting somersaults in springboard ...

Investigation of Rotor-Rotor and Rotor-Structure Interactions on Multi-Rotor Wind Turbine Systems
Abstract Multi-rotor wind turbine systems (MRS) are an innovative alternative to conventional single-rotor (SR) wind turbines. This paper investigates the rotor interactions of three 20 MW floating offshore MRS designs with 12, 27 and 48 rotors respectively.

THE ROTOR MODEL AND COMBINATORICS [PDF]
We examine the groundstate wavefunction of the rotor model for different boundary conditions. Three conjectures are made on the appearance of numbers enumerating alternating sign matrices. In addition to those occurring in the O (n = 1) model we find the number A V (2m + 1;3), which 3-enumerates vertically symmetric alternating sign matrices.

Dynamics of Anisotropically Supported Rotors
The paper discusses dynamic effects occurring in machinery rotors supported in bearings and pedestals with laterally different characteristics. In the considered rotor model the anisotropy of radial stiffness and tangential (“cross”) stiffness components

Thermal Bending of the Rotor Due to Rotor-to-Stator Rub
The rotor thermal bending due to the rotor-to-stator rubbing can lead to one of three types of observed rotor lateral motion: (1) spiral with increasing amplitude, (2) oscillating between rub]no-rub conditions, and (3) asymptotical approach to the rotor ...

Bulk-cusp microstructure for controllable multi-directional liquid spreading
Controllable wetting of liquid on solid surface is meaningful for advanced science and engineering. Current researches about controllable liquid spreading are generally limited to unidirectional modes, while achieving multi-directional spreading on ...
