Natural turbulence electrical power generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
An energy conversion apparatus is disclosed in which a stator, fixed to a watertight housing, is coupled to a rotor by a helical spring which suspends the rotor from the housing. Natural turbulence of a fluid, such as water or air, causes acceleration of

Acoustic test of a model rotor and tail rotor: Results for the isolated rotors and combined configuration [PDF]

open access: yes
Acoustic data from a model scale main rotor and tail rotor experiment in the NASA Langley 14 by 22 Foot Subsonic Tunnel are presented for the main rotor and trail rotor in isolation and for the two rotors operating together. Results for the isolated main

Multistable Composite Laminate Grids as a Design Tool for Soft Reconfigurable Multirotors

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Flexible, lightweight, stable: the reconfigurable multirotor combines stable flight in multiple shapes with low‐energy reconfiguration. Utilizing optimized multistable composites, it achieves self‐locking in open and folded configurations, cutting width‐span by 48% and allowing for safe gap traversal.

A Study on the Effect of Structural Compliance Placing in Soft Contact/Collision Properties of Multirotor Micro Aerial Vehicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article answers the question “Where is the best place to apply compliance in a multirotor micro aerial vehicle to make it more collision‐resilient?” by analyzing the output data of more than 1200 drone collision tests for four main configurations of micro‐quadcopters each possessing a unique softness layout of physical frame.
