Helicopter Main-Rotor/Tail-Rotor Interaction

Journal of the American Helicopter Society, 2000
Preliminary results from a study to model the interaction aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of the main and tail rotor of a helicopter in subsonic flow are presented. The configurations studied are: 1) two bladed main and tail rotors in hover, and 2) a four-bladed main rotor and two-bladed tail rotor in climbing flight.

A Computational Study on Rotor Interactional Effects for a Quadcopter in Edgewise Flight

Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 80th Annual Forum, 2018
This study examines the performance of a quadcopter in edgewise flight conditions with flow simulated using the commercial Navier-Stokes solver, AcuSolve, with a Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) model.

On the Vibration of Rotor With Rotor/Stopper Rubbing

Volume 7A: 17th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 1999
Abstract The vibration of a flywheel rotor with rotor/stopper rubbing is investigated by experimental methods. In the experiments, the large amplitude of the rotor vibration is excited by the electromagnetic harmonic excitation force and thus causes the rubbing between the rotor and the stopper.

ROTORS FOR RECOVERY

Entry Technology Conference, 1964
Autorotating rotors can, in a single configuration system, provide the capability for retardation, stabilization, drag force modulation, glide at useful L/D ratios, maneuvering and control during descent, and low-velocity touchdown. A given configuration will deploy over a wide range of speeds and dynamic pressures.

A Rotor Speed Sensor of Cycloid Rotor Flowmeter

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Positive displacement flowmeters (PDFs) are highly accurate flowmeters that are relatively insensitive to the upstream velocity distribution and fluid viscosity. Rotor speed sensors are the key components of a PDF. This paper presents the structure of a non-contact rotor speed sensor which can be used in cycloid rotor flowmeter and other PDFs.

Centrifuges and Rotors

Current Protocols in Protein Science, 1995
AbstractThis appendix provides rmax values (the maximum value of the rotating radius between the particle being centrifuged and the axis of rotation) for commonly used rotors manufactured by Du Pont (Sorvall), Beckman, Fisher, and IEC. Additionally, nomograms are provided for determining the relative centrifugal force (RCF) where speed and rmax are ...
