Analysis of composite rotor blades

1996
The purpose of this chapter is to provide an insight into the behavior of composite rotor blades, their modeling and the associated analysis methodologies. From a structural point of view, blades are usually treated as slender structures. This category includes all structures where one of their dimensions is much larger than the others.

Rotor blade element with anti-icing surface for wind turbine rotor blades

2015
A rotor blade element with a heatable foil (2, 3, 6) comprising a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) and elec tric conductive elements (4), a wind power plant comprising this rotor blade element and a process for producing the ro tor blade element comprising the steps: I) introducing a heat able foil (2, 3, 6), comprising a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE ...

The Finite-Bladed Betz Rotor

2015
The finite-bladed optimum Betz rotor is treated. It is first very recently that a complete description of this rotor has been derived. In the chapter, a full analytical solution to the Betz rotor problem will be given, and the results will be compared to other optimum rotor models, both with respect to performance and resulting rotor geometry.

Chiral bladed wind rotor

1997
Exploiting wind energy has been around since remote times: the Dutch began in 1360 with the typical mill to drain the marshland and for the more traditional agricultural work. In the past 30 years, material technological progress has brought on the construction of aerogenerators that range from an average 100 HP to the American aerogenerator of Grandpa’
