By designing a P/N‐ and π–π interacting biphenyl‐containing diol as hard segments but side groups, a strong, tough, fire‐extinguishing and self‐healing elastomer is developed, demonstrating a break strain of ∼2500%, a toughness of 379 MJ/m3 and a tensile strength of 46 MPa, as well as a healing efficiency of 95% (tensile strength) and 99% (break strain)

Crack growth resistance in nuclear graphite [PDF]
R-curve behaviour is often used for evaluating crack growth resistance in quasibrittle materials but few studies have focused on polycrystalline graphite. In this study, R-curve behaviour in three commercial grade nuclear graphites, of varying structure

Heat transport by flow through rough rock fractures
International audienceFracture surface topography exhibits long-range spatial correlations resulting in a heterogeneous aperture field. This leads to the formation, within fracture planes, of preferential flow channels controlling flow and transport ...

Indium‐Mediated Glue‐Like Interlayer Enables Stable High‐Capacity Flexible Sodium Metal Batteries
A three‐dimensional Na‐In‐S/Cu composite interlayer is constructed on a flexible current collector via an In‐mediated in situ reaction. Featuring abundant Na nucleation sites and a low diffusion barrier, this interlayer enables rapid and uniform Na deposition.

Foam flow through a transparent rough-walled rock fracture
This paper presents an experimental study of nitrogen, water, and aqueous foam flow through a transparent replica of a natural rough-walled rock fracture with a hydraulic aperture of roughly 30 {mu}m.

Second‐Harmonic Hyper‐Mie Optical Activity Enables Closed‐Loop Chiral Photochemistry
Nonlinear chiral photochemistry is demonstrated in CdTe/CdO nanohelices, where circularly polarized infrared light both drives and tracks photo‐oxidation via second‐harmonic scattering. This closed‐loop process reveals real‐time structural evolution, including shell fracturing and core exposure, accompanied by a transition from hyper‐Mie to hyper ...
