The geometry of characters of Hopf algebras

open access: yes, 2017
Character groups of Hopf algebras appear in a variety of mathematical contexts such as non-commutative geometry, renormalisation of quantum field theory, numerical analysis and the theory of regularity structures for stochastic partial differential ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

A new type of soft multi rough sets

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
Soft multi rough sets which are a hybrid model combining rough sets with soft multisets are defined by using soft multi rough approximation operators. Soft multi rough sets can be seen as a generalized rough set model based on soft multisets.

Roughness at the depinning threshold for a long-range elastic string

open access: yes, 2001
In this paper, we compute the roughness exponent zeta of a long-range elastic string, at the depinning threshold, in a random medium with high precision, using a numerical method which exploits the analytic structure of the problem (`no-passing' theorem),

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Revisiting Shor's quantum algorithm for computing general discrete logarithms

open access: yes, 2021
We heuristically demonstrate that Shor's algorithm for computing general discrete logarithms, modified to allow the semi-classical Fourier transform to be used with control qubit recycling, achieves a success probability of approximately 60% to 82% in a ...

Prognostic Impact of European LeukemiaNet Genetic Risk Stratification System in Adult Patients With Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of ELN2017 in predicting survival outcomes and to assess the impact of clinical and molecular factors such as age, FLT3 and NPM1 mutations, and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo‐HSCT).

Random walks on free solvable groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
For any finitely generated group G, let n ---> \Phi_G(n) be the function that describes the rough asymptotic behavior of the probability of return to the identity element at time 2n of a symmetric simple random walk on G (this is an invariant of quasi ...

Acoustic Measures Capture Speech Dysfunction in Spinocerebellar Ataxia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCA) are hereditary cerebellar degenerative disorders with a common feature of dysarthria, involving impaired phonatory and articulatory control of speech, thereby affecting social communication. In this study, we investigated whether acoustic measures could objectively measure speech dysfunction and identify
