Multiple attribute (or multiple criteria) decision support aims at giving the decision maker (DM) a recommendation concerning a set of objects A (also called alternatives, actions, acts, solutions, options, candidates, ...) evaluated from multiple points of view called attributes (also called features, variables, criteria, objectives, ...).

Fuzzy sets and rough sets [PDF]
Fuzzy Sets and Hyperstructures introduced by Zadeh, in 1965, and by Marty, in 1934, respectively, are now used in the world both on the theoreticaI point of view and for their many applications. The Rough Sets considered for the first time by Shafer in 1976, have been reintroduced in the international scientific circle by Pawlak, in 1991 especially in ...

A Treatise on Rough Sets [PDF]
This article presents some general remarks on rough sets and their place in general picture of research on vagueness and uncertainty – concepts of utmost interest, for many years, for philosophers, mathematicians, logicians and recently also for computer scientists and engineers particularly those working in such areas as AI, computational intelligence,

A kind of new rough set: Rough soft sets and rough soft rings
Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, 2015The aim of this paper is to lay a foundation for providing a rough soft tool in considering many problems that contain uncertainties. We put forward the concepts of rough soft rings and rough idealistic soft rings. Some basic operations on rough soft rings are discussed. Some good examples are explored.

Probabilistic Rough Sets Characterized by Fuzzy Sets
2011 Eighth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD), 2004Theories of fuzzy sets and rough sets have emerged as two major mathematical approaches for managing uncertainty that arises from inexact, noisy, or incomplete information. They are generalizations of classical set theory for modelling vagueness and uncertainty.

Roughness bounds in rough set operations
Information Sciences, 2006This paper presents some roughness bounds for rough set operations. The results show that a bound of the set operation can be determined from their operand's roughnesses. We prove also that this bound is not determined under some special operations.

The subject-matter of the consideration touches the problem of vagueness. The notion of the rough set, originated by Zdzislaw Pawlak, was constructed under the influence of vague information and methods of shaping systems of notions leading to conceptualization and representation of vague knowledge, so also systems of their scopes as some vague sets ...

In this paper we apply rough set theory to information tables induced from finite directed graphs without loops and multiples arcs (digraphs). Specifically, we use the adjacency matrix of a digraph as a particular type of information table. In this way, we are able to explore on digraphs the notions of indiscernibility partitions, lower and upper ...
