Scan and 3D Print: Magnetic Resonance Imaging‐Guided, Monolithic Desktop Fabrication of Highly Biomimetic Skeletal System of the Human Hand

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a framework to monolithically 3D print highly bioinspired hands, composed of soft and stiff segments, using cost‐effective desktop printers. A magnetic resonance imaging‐informed approach replicates key anatomical features, such as collateral ligaments and volar plates, enabling enhanced functionality and human‐like behavior. This

Haptic Perception via the Dynamics of a Flexible Body Inspired by an Ostrich's Neck

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Inspired by avian anatomy, this study uses a flexible robotic neck to investigate haptic perception driven by musculoskeletal dynamics. By applying physical reservoir computing, the robot encodes external force interactions into its body dynamics, allowing effective object classification.

Non uniformity: structural strategy for optimizing functionality in skeletal ligaments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ligaments serve as compliant connectors between hard tissues. In that role, they function under various load regimes and directions. However, the 3D structure of ligaments is still considered uniform.

AI‐Driven Predictive Design and Functionalization of Three Dimensional‐Printed PEEK Implants with Tryptophan‐Enriched Alginate Hydrogel for Enhanced Biomimetic Surface Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces an AI‐guided strategy to design 3D‐printed PEEK implants functionalized with a tryptophan‐enriched alginate hydrogel (TRYALPEEK). The modification improves hydrophilicity, reduces surface roughness, enhances cytocompatibility, and optimizes stress distribution. The platform offers a promising route for personalized implant design,

5-Year survival of pediatric anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with living donor hamstring tendon grafts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: It is well accepted that there is a higher incidence of repeat anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in the pediatric population after ACL reconstruction (ACLR) with autograft tissue compared with adults.
