Spectrum-Convertible BVWXC Placement in OFDM-Based Elastic Optical Networks
Spectrum conversion can improve the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based elastic optical networks (EONs) by relaxing the continuity constraint and consequently reducing connection request blocking probability during ...

Spectrum assignment in rings with shortest-path routing: Complexity and approximation algorithms [PDF]
We study the spectrum assignment (SA) problem in ring networks with shortest path (or, more generally, fixed) routing. With fixed routing, each traffic demand follows a predetermined path to its destination. In earlier work, we have shown that the SA problem can be viewed as a multiprocessor problem.

Partial-Failure Segregated Spectrum Assignment for Multicast Traffic in Flex-Grid Optical Networks
In this paper, we propose a new algorithm called the partial-failure segregated multicasting routing and spectrum assignment (PFS MRSA) algorithm to improve the service blocking performance of the multicast transmission in flex-grid optical networks ...

Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Slight Truncation Changes in Iron Oxide Nanocubes Strongly Affect Their Magnetic Properties
Subtle variations in nanoparticle morphology can lead to significant changes in functional properties. An automated shape‐fitting method captures minor differences in corner truncation between iron oxide nanocubes of similar sizes synthesized under identical conditions, revealing pronounced disparities in their magnetic and hyperthermia behavior ...

Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...

X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...

Inspired by natural silicified wood, a biomimetic mineralized chitin‐derived aerogel is constructed. It can withstand 81 000 times its own weight, and its backside temperature is 130.4°C after exposure to ∼1300°C butane flame for 600 s, exhibiting high‐strength, fire‐resistance, and super thermal‐insulation properties.
