Noisy Graph Patterns via Ordered Matrices

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract The high‐level structure of a graph is a crucial ingredient for the analysis and visualization of relational data. However, discovering the salient graph patterns that form this structure is notoriously difficult for two reasons. (1) Finding important patterns, such as cliques and bicliques, is computationally hard.

RDMA vs. RPC for Implementing Distributed Data Structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Distributed data structures are key to implementing scalable applications for scientific simulations and data analysis. In this paper we look at two implementation styles for distributed data structures: remote direct memory access (RDMA) and remote ...

Integrating fossil data in ecological niche models to improve predictions of future habitat of Caribbean corals

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Ecological niche models (ENMs) are used to assess the abiotic preferences of species by linking their occurrences to the environmental conditions in which they live. We developed a fossil‐informed ENM framework that integrates mid‐Holocene and modern occurrences to test niche stability and reconstruct abiotic niche characteristics for four ...

Constructing a Configurable Group RPC Service

open access: yes, 1994
Current Remote Procedure Call (RPC) services implement a variety of semantics, with many of the differences related to how communication and server failures are handled. The list increases even more when considering group RPC, a variant of RPC often used

Genetic and Environmental Effects on BMI Fluctuation Across the Adult Life Course and Its Associations With Baseline BMI and BMI Change: An Individual‐Based Study of 14 Longitudinal Twin Cohorts

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Body mass index (BMI) fluctuation has adverse health consequences, yet its determinants remain poorly understood. We examined genetic and environmental influences on BMI fluctuation and its associations with BMI trajectories. Data and Methods Data from 14 longitudinal twin cohorts, including 58 311 individuals (54% women) and 22 ...

Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of RPC Beams Failing in Shear [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Reactive powder concrete (RPC) is a new type of ultra-high strength and high ductility concrete first developed in the 1990's in France. It is recognized as a revolutionary material that provides a combination of ductility, durability, and high strength.

Targeted, receptor‐mediated delivery of a masked d‐amino acid cell‐penetrating peptide for cell‐specific phototoxicity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
A targeted phototoxic peptide selectively accumulates in cells expressing chemokine‐like receptor 1 (CMKLR1). Phototoxicity of the native peptide is low, but cleavage by lysosomal protease cathepsin B releases a 6‐tetramethylrhodamine (TMR) labeled nona‐ᴅ‐arginine which mediates lysosomal rupture and cell death upon irradiation.

Ocular Manifestations of Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus Infection in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Eyes are essential sensory organs needed by teleost Atlantic salmon for high visual acuity and survival in both the wild and in aquaculture settings. In this work, we assessed the ocular manifestations of Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus (ISAV) infection in Atlantic salmon by a cohabitation‐mediated infection assay and histological and ...

A conceptual diagram for the risk-period-cohort (RPC) model using the hierarchical APC (HAPC) framework.

open access: yes, 2019
Structural diagram of the HAPC model using RPC analyses (not including a quadratic risk effect on the outcome). This diagram is adapted similarly from work by Bell and Jones (2014)[9].
