Reconsidering the importance of Metopolophium dirhodum (Walker) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) as a crop pest

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Four‐year field monitoring and laboratory studies revealed M. dirhodum occurs regularly in barley with high reproductive potential and extended adult longevity. Populations peaked during vulnerable crop stages, creating optimal conditions for BYDV transmission during critical infection windows. M.

A Single Centre Feasibility Study of Vacuum Assisted Breast Biopsy Excision as a Non‐Surgical Alternative for Selected Women With Borderline Breast Lesions

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
In a feasibility study at an Australian teaching hospital, women showed a clear preference for VAB Ex over surgical breast biopsy. The clinical outcomes confirm the safety and effectiveness of this approach. Overall, 90% of women had benign VAB Ex findings and did not require SBB, creating capacity in the healthcare system.

The optical coherence tomography and microperimetry biomarker evaluation in patients with geographic atrophy (OMEGA) study: Geographic atrophy progression in fundus autofluorescence ‐ OMEGA report 3

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To measure the progression of geographic atrophy (GA) in subjects with age‐related macular degeneration (AMD) in a natural history study. Methods We analysed fundus autofluorescence (FAF) images using a semiautomatic method (RegionFinder) to quantify the GA area in a monocentric study.

Hsp70 diversification and repurposing across the tree of life: Lessons from the evolutionary and mechanistic trajectory of the Hsp70–Hsp110 chaperone system

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Evolutionary and mechanistic divergence in the Hsp70–Hsp110 chaperone system. Prokaryotic Hsp70s probably diversified into multiple orthologues that cooperated with co‐chaperones such as JDPs and NEF, forming increasingly complex proteostasis networks.
